Bringing scientists to places science doesn’t usually go.
Science doesn’t live only in labs, journals, or classrooms—and it definitely shouldn’t. At LabX, our mission is to put scientists into cultural spaces where curiosity already exists, but science rarely shows up. Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) is one of those spaces.
AGDQ is a global speedrunning event that brings together hundreds of thousands of viewers around a shared love of games, community, and doing good. It’s fast, it’s chaotic, and it’s deeply human. That makes it a perfect place for science.
Since 2024, LabX has partnered with Games Done Quick to introduce real scientists, real research, and real scientific thinking into the AGDQ broadcast—without slowing it down or talking down to the audience. No lectures. No lab coats. Just scientists showing up as people, meeting the community where they already are.
- Our collaborations focus on:
• Humanizing scientists by putting faces, voices, and personalities on science
• Expanding who science is “for” by reaching audiences who might never seek it out
• Embedding science into culture, not separating it from entertainment
• Proving that curiosity fits anywhere, including a speedrunning marathon
Each AGDQ collaboration is designed specifically for the event and the audience—whether that’s live segments, hosted conversations, or creative integrations that make science feel like a natural part of the moment, not an interruption. Below, you’ll find our AGDQ collaborations by year, each with its own goals, formats, and outcomes. Together, they represent what LabX does best: building unexpected bridges between science and the rest of the world.
