Yo! Bad news, boss. Looks like we might need to continue the search for the host city of the next Plastic Games.

The mayor of our top candidate just released a bumping TikTok video to announce a ban on all things plastic. I’m worried this would be bad for the athletes’ morale, not to mention completely throw off the entrance music of the Opening Ceremony if we can’t have our ensemble of plastic bag-pipes.

Well said. I left a comment asking for more details but don’t expect a response anytime soon. It looks like her video is going viral…

More bad news, boss. Turns out legislation against plastic is actually pretty common?? I whipped up an interactive map to help visualize where some of this legislation is being passed. These laws are everywhere!

Bottle Boy:

Right?? Interestingly, in response, some governments have actually banned bans on plastic. Yep, you read that correctly: there are currently 15 states within the US with some form of statewide legislation preventing municipalities within the state from adopting local bans of single-use plastics. It looks like this type of legislation is called a preemption ban. Maybe we should look for a host city there?

Bottle Boy:

Good idea, I’ll look into it.
