The Plastic Problem Q&A - #6
QUESTION from the audience at PBS NewsHour Presents: the Plastic Problem Panel Discussion
How effective has the large boom been that was created to help cleanup the Pacific Garbage Patch, which works by helping to corral plastics that are floating in the ocean using the boom and a net that goes down several feet into the ocean?
This boom is part of the Ocean Clean Up Project, which aims to clean up 90% of the ocean’s plastic pollution. The first ocean collection was completed in December in 2019 and the project is currently working on an updated vehicle to address the issues of long-term durability and sustained plastic retention.
