The Plastic Problem Q&A - #8

QUESTION from the audience at PBS NewsHour Presents: the Plastic Problem Panel Discussion

The plastic pellets in the Great Lakes were pretty disturbing. Have the responsible companies been held liable in any way?

ANSWER
While no companies have been held liable, the prevalence of microbead plastic pollution in the Great Lakes led Illinois to adopt the country’s first ban of microbeads and helped push for a national ban on the manufacturing and sale of microbeads in 2018.
