In January 2024, LabX partnered with Games Done Quick during their speedrunning event - raising money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. LabX sponsored a segment with players speedrunning Armored Core VI and Super Mario Builder.

While they're competing, viewers on Twitch donate for a foundation selected by GDQ for that year. In just 7 days in 2024, GDQ raised over $2.5 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

As a partner, LabX was proud to collaborate on a segment with GDQ specifically bringing in two scientists: Daniel Nagasawa and Ross Higashi. While speedrunners raced to break records in Armored Core VI, scientists Daniel and Ross took a fascinating dive into the real-world mechanics of the game’s machines and robots, exploring how these innovations could shape our future. This marked one of the first times scientists ventured into a speed-running event, and our partners at Games Done Quick were thrilled to amplify the impact of these science segments, creating a one-of-a-kind experience where gaming and science collide.

Prize Segment

We had giveaways of our Glitch Squad board game and some other prizes for people watching on Twitch and our social media followers!

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon

A mecha-based vehicular combat game, Armored Core VI was a perfect game for our scientists to step in and talk about the actual science and engineering that goes into thinking about these machines.

Science Block

Obviously, we had a science-themed break segment in between speed-running, which was received so strongly by the audience that we had to share some of their comments (see below!)

Mario Maker 2

And finally, we wrapped it all up with Mario Maker 2!
